Dast&Hand - Fashion and Community Label - is an exploration of serendipitous shapes and colours. Each garment is made out of deadstock calico, dyed in our garden. Each piece is unique and hand embroidered by Afghan women in East London. Full proceeds from this project go towards Durkhanum (Strong Women): Kabul Sewing Circle.

The Sewing Circle is a project started by three women in order to provide women in Kabul with tools as well as skills on how to become tailors. It was founded in 2021 after the Taliban came into power in Afghanistan and is meant to help women to provide for their families in these uncertain times. From talking to the organisation we learned that by now the project has become more than a course for learning a craft it has also become a safe space for women to share their feelings and find joy in their work with garments. We had a similar approach to our project Dast&Hand - creating garments can be a therapeutic as well as a tool to engage and communicate with other people.
